I have this lovely sock yarn (Lorna's Laces Shepherd Socks) in this beautiful colorway (Childsplay). I have been working hard finishing my monkey socks for the Monkey Sock 2 Swap. These socks have monopolized my time however I am almost ready to start a pair of socks from Favorite Socks. What pattern do you suggest will show off this yarn. I was considering the Diagonal Cross-Rib Socks or the Retro Bib but I am very open to suggestions especially those who have had experience knitting socks with varigated yarns.

This color is so cute! It reminds me of a muted version of their colorway "rainbow." Um, I like the Retro Rib for this. Of course, that's just one opinion. Ooh- maybe even the boot socks. Hmmm...
Wow, pretty yarn! I vote for the Waving Lace sock myself. For me, you lose the pattern of the Retro in the colors of the yar. Waving should still show the pattern and no be hidden by the yarn. Just sayin...
I agree with Marsha, I knit the Retro Rib using a pattern yarn and the sock pattern got lost.
the boot socks or waving lace sock might be the right one.

That's very good to know. I was going to make some of the Retro Ribs with a busy yarn. Now I know to use a more solid or lightly variegated yarn. Thank you. :)
I'm thinking something with a wavy, undulating pattern. These colors are too pretty for triangles or other such geometric shapes.
