Half of a Christmas gift

Anniversary Sock I made these for my sister for Christmas. I haven't even started the second sock, which I plan to start very soon.

Do you ever have projects where you think, “wow, I never thought I could knit something that beautiful”? This is one of those projects. It’s the Anniversary Socks by Nancy Bush from the Favorite Socks book. After finishing the first sock in about 9 days on size 1 needles, my hands needed a break. I now know why everyone raves about Nancy Bush sock patterns. They are amazing, she pays attention to every detail to make the socks perfect. The toe on this sock fits the rest of the sock so well and I’ve done this heel on other socks but it just fits this one so well.

Sharing photos ...

So far my attempts to share photos have not been successful, but I continue to try! This picture was taken while I was knitting the gusset decreases on the Anniversary Sock in Knit Picks Gloss (Burgundy). The sock is done now and waiting for its mate.

Anniversary Socks

I have to admit to not knitting these socks myself-- my mom made them. But she used my book and yarn that I dyed, so I do have some right to claim them. I think they turned out beautifully. They are the Anniversary socks and made from the yarn Tinsel Toes from my shop, The Painted Sheep in colorway Garden Tomato.

Anniversary Socks Question

Does anyone else think there is a mistake in the pattern as written? Specifically, in rows 5 and 9, it seems as though the LC2 should be K2 to continue the pattern of the cuffs which places a cross every 4 rows (which an LC2 in 3, 7, 11 would accomplish).

crazy about lorna's laces!!!

hey everybody!
i finally finished my Go with the Flow socks!! they turned out very long, but i love them. the purple one is the Anniversary sock which will be for my mother in law. i started a couple other socks because i couldnt stand just looking at the beautiful yarn i got in the mail after going crazy ordering what was supposed to be 2 skeins and turned out a lot more because i couldnt decide on the colors. i never used Lorna's Laces before and i have to tell you i am in love. so soft and so beautiful!!! i want to try to dye my own yarn though, just because it would be a lot cheaper...i ll let you know (and see) how that turns out.
until then: Happy Sock Knitting!!!

Anniversary Socks

I just finished my Anniversary Socks. I really liked this pattern, it was a fun knit. The pattern was easy to memorize, enough that I didn't refer to it much on the second sock.

I used Sophie's Toes yarn, size 1 dpns. More photos on my blog www.yarnpaperscissors.blogspot.com.

The color is not so intense in real life.

"Anniversary Socks" completed!

I have completed my "Anniversary Socks" by Nancy Bush. These were made from Louet Gems yarn, on 2.5mm Pony Pearl DPNS. Even though they do contain twisted stitches, it was an enjoyable project. The yarn is incredibly soft. It is the first time that I have knit with Louet Gems yarn. I was able to make these socks from 2 skeins. I did shorten the leg to my usual 7" rather than the 9" suggested in the pattern. Other than that, I made no modifications.

"Anniversary Socks" by Nancy Bush

I wanted to share this beginning stage photo of the "Anniversary Socks" by Nancy Bush. I don't think many folks have posted about this design. It is very enjoyable indeed! I did have to make a chart of the stitch pattern - as it was written out. Funny, a year ago, I would have preferred the written format. Now I am a total chart enthusiast!

I am using the seemingly popular "Louet Gems Pearl" yarn for these socks. It is a first for me. I certainly like the feel of the yarn, but question it's duability. Time will tell - I am sure.

So - I leave you with a word of encouragement... give these socks a try. I really like designs that have a different stitch pattern on the front vs the back. Nancy Bush seeems to have several of these to her credit. She is one of my favorite designers!!

my intro and my socks

Hi there, my name is Rosemary and my favorite thing to knit is socks. I snatched up this book as soon as it appeared in my LYS, and of course cast on for my first pair from it right away.

They are the Anniversary Socks by Nancy Bush in red Wildfoote. They are my favorite Favortie Socks pattern besides I think the Ilga's fair isle socks pattern. I'll wait til I have just the right yarns for those. Here is a pic from earlier this week. I'm in the gusset of the second sock now.

Thanks for such a lovely KAL. I'll be sure to post a pic when I'm finished, and when I start another pair from this book. If you're interested, my blog is called Quietish and I also have a podcast called CraftBorg.
