Good Afternoon fellow knitters!
I can't get enough of this book and have thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts. I think a majority of peoples Christmas presents are coming from this book.
I'm 25 and live outside of dc and have been knitting on and off for years and seriously for a year and a half. Here is my blog I'm currently working with the Waving Lace Socks. Slight issue: my k2tog are slanting left and my ssks are slanting right. thishttp://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/decrease.php says the exact opposite. I'm confused. :-(

Modified Undulating Ribs

When I saw how the Yarn Harlot did the undulating rib pattern for just a few repeats then switched to plain ribbing, I decided to do the same. I like the results, as well as the fit. And I have fallen in love with the yarn, which is Valley Yarns Franklin. I'm not sure of the colorway--I think it was one-of-a-kind.

Waving Lace Socks

At long last, the socks are off the needles after 5 long months. This is the 1st time that I took so long to knit a pair of socks but I was having problems from the beginning (you can read more about them on my blog).

Anyway, I am glad that's all in the past & the socks are done - they look alright & fitted perfectly but not as soft as the other socks that I have made. Here they are ......

Meida Socks

I finished these a little over a week ago. I loved this pattern! It was super easy to memorize and went fast. I used Crystal Palace Panda Cotton for these and I loved the yarn.....it's SO soft and silky, but it doesn't stretch very much, so these didn't end up fitting me. My mom loves her new socks though! Flame Wave Socks

These socks were done in fuschia Cascade Fixation. They took very little time and they are perfect for the summer weather.

Waving Wheat!

Hi All - Here's my latest version of Embossed Leaves, which I have renamed Waving Wheat! Knitted in Dale of Norway Baby Ull, on 2 circular needles. No variation (though I did decrease 2 too many at the gusset, but all was fine).

Anniversary Socks

I loved the lace pattern so I made it both front and back of the leg. Did have to adjust the cast on to only 56 sts as the yarn was not as fine as the yarn used for the instructions. I made the cuff a simple k1p1. It sure doesn't look as classy as the one pictured in the book-but that is half the fun of trying new yarns for the same pattern! This is the second time I purchased the same colorway of superwash wool roving which is hand-dyed from Jenya Loves Fiber, an EBay store. It spun up beautifully and I was able to spin it even finer this time-practice does improve skills! (The sock holders are a recent post from Craftzine-see my blog for more info!)

Waving Lace Socks

After the book finally arrived, I started knitting right away.

The yarn is Sundara's Handpainted Sock Yarn and it has been waiting for the right pattern for quite a while.

The socks fit great and I have already started on the Embossed Leaves Socks and the Austrian Socks.

So... there are more posts to follow.

Mock Wave Cable Socks

This is the 1st pair of socks that I have knitted from the book. Love the pattern - it was an easy pattern to knit & it looks so nice. I knitted the socks toe-up (as it's my favorite way of knitting socks) and the heel & slip stitch gusset really finished up the socks so well. Thanks to Wendy for the instructions!

The yarn is Socks That Rock Sock Club Silkie, Walking On The Wild Tide which I managed to buy from a friend who is a member of the club. The yarn is gorgeous, so soft & nice to knit with but it's quite splitty & thank goodness that I am using the sharp pointed Pony Pearls dpns.

This pair of socks is knitted for my best friend's birthday next week. As she has the same size feet, I was able to try them on & they fitted perfectly - love the waves of the rib!

Here are my second pair of Embossed Leaves socks, and alas they are also a birthday gift for a friend. I swear the next pair of these I knit will be for ME! Love the pattern, love the yarn, love the socks. Perfect!

Embossed Leaves Socks!

My embossed leaves socks are going to their owner in the morning, and since she is probably in bed already I feel safe posting these. They've been done for a while, but I've kept them under wraps because I didn't want prying eyes to find them.






I'm really proud of these, and I don't want them to leave me. But at least I know they'll be loved. Yarn courtesy of WhimzyPinzy in electric girly girl.

A Pair on the Road

Finished the Embossed Leaves while on the way to NY by car (1200 miles)....a dear friend lost the fight with cancer and we needed to be there for the farewell. The socks now reside with my sister which is fitting because the socks remind me of the granite boulders of the Adirondacks so they have been named the Granite Socks! Reducing the stitches to 64 stitches on 2.75 needles with Sockatta yarn and they fit fine. Nice lessons learned along the way........

Eesti Trail Hiking Socks

I finally have the first sock in the pair finished! I did not use reinforcing thread and will probably regret it, but I didn't have the patience to wait for either a trip to a yarn store or an internet order to arrive.

My husband plans to wear these while hunting this fall. Now the pressure is on... How will these compare to socks purchased at Cabela's?

Car Sock 1 Done

Car Sock to match ‘56 Chevy…this picture is "chrome" added to side. The pattern is Resoleable socks. It’s a good one for doing different colors on the bottom and top of a sock. Cascade Fixation yarn - size 3 needles. I like the stretchy cotton. “Chrome” is metallic DMC E415. I’m crocheting it with the sock stretched coz the DMC doesn’t stretch. This was a fun project, but I’m anxious to get started on something else. More info and pictures at my blog.

Another Pair of Embossed Leaves!

Now I see why everyone is knitting these. They are very fun to knit and come out beautifully. These are a gift for someone with smaller feet than me, so I can't photograph them on a model. The yarn is Koigu.

The Uptown Boot Sock--this is actually the second pair of these that I've made--for memememe--I like this sock very much!


The yarn is Lime & Violet in Leandre the Escapologist--if you really look at the yarn, it's doing some neat, painterly stuff, or at least that's what I see--can what you see in sock yarn be evaluated like a Rorsharch test?


I don't think I'll ever get tired of varigated yarn--that being said, the Cable Rib Sock is next on my list:

in Knitpicks Essential Solid, Fawn color. It's a man sock, and the man who's getting it is not the varigated colorway sort. Besides, my brain needs a color reset.

And I can honestly say, I am enjoying this knit-a-long IMMENSELY!!

Waving Lace Socks

I began these socks before there was an official knit-along and had them ready for my friend Norma's birthday in July. The socks are knit in Knit Picks "Dancing" yarn -- a blend of cotton and merino, similar to "Sockotta" ... Norma was a bit disappointed that I photoed on the sock blocker, rather than her foot (she wanted to pose!) -- oh, well, next pair!

I am also knitting another pair with the same yarn, except the waving lace border is done in pure white Sockotta...will post when they're finished

Undulating Rib Socks

Fun pattern and I loved the yarn colors.

Right now I'm working another pair from Favorite Socks (the ones with the single cable down the side) and a pair of garter stitch rib socks for my husband in a worsted weight yarn (KP Swish). The worsted weight one are going fast - love that!

At first i had a little trouble to remember the pattern to get the decreases right.... but after that they were a beautiful knit. i love them!!!

Re-Do is Worth It!

Finished the ripped out sock! The reduction of only 4 sts made the difference-I removed one stitch from the three purl stitches in each repeat. This fits perfectly now which shows off the lace pattern the way it should. I am making quick work on the second sock-the pattern sure works faster now that I have memorized it! Hope to have the finished pair soon! (Embossed Leaves)

I have finished my first pair of socks from the book! Yay! I love the way they turned out and they fit my feet perfectly. Can't wait to start the next pair

Ute socks

I've just finished a pair of Ute socks:



I knit these in the suggested yarn, Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport. Unfortunately, one of the original colors (grape) has been discontinued, so I substituted what looked like a close enough match (plumberry). The new color is a little too dark, I think; nevertheless, I am quite pleased with the finished sock. It's a great pattern, and the most difficult part was trying them on for fit or for photos: it's been very hot and humid here in Philadelphia, so it's not exactly double-thickness sock weather!

Meida's Socks

I knit three pairs of these socks in Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in Aloe (shown), Desert Sand and Forest Green for my daughters and another pair in Wildfoote Luxury Sock Yarn (Mistletoe) for myself. The Cotton Fine not only gave wonderful stitch definition, but was a delightful yarn to knit. For one pair I added an extra purl stitch at each end of the pattern repeat (8 stitches total) as this pattern tends to be a bit snug.

Finished Meida's Socks!

Another great pattern from Interweave! The pattern was interesting yet memorable and the yarn, Dream in Color Smooshy, was literally a dream to knit with! I love the subtle color variations and overall smooshiness of the yarn.

All Part of the Creativity

Sometimes you need to rip out. It is just a fact of knitting. How do we feel about this? It is annoying and a bit daunting to start, but it is necessary and it is good to get a clean slate..........why knit and ignore a problem (in this case-way too baggy to be attractive or comfortable!) when the solution is to re-do. This was the first sock of the Embossed Leaves sock, it is made with Sockatta yarn which is not very elastic because it is cotton and so it just made the bagginess more pronounced. I haven't any smaller needles so will cast on again with less stitches-I am reducing the P3 between patterns and using only P2 around-just a reduction of 4 stitches overall which equals about 5/8". We shall do try-ons many times on the next sock! (I have removed my rose colored glasses so I will not be dissuaded from a rip out before the end is reached this time!)

So far I have the cuff done. This Cascade Fixation takes time to get used to.

I figured out you have to stretch it to go around the needle, then let go of it before you slide the stitch off the needle...Spprroiinngggg.....
