Waving Lace socks

Waving Lace Socks

This was the first set of socks that really appealed to me from the book.
Needle: US 3 / 3.25 mm
Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Silk Color
How much?: 2 skeins = 436.0 yards (398.7m)
Colorway: 0028 Apricot

Waving Lace Socks
I made these socks over a year ago for my mother. She never wore them because she said they were just too pretty to wear.

Then I moved to Florida in January. It got chilly one night (as chilly as S. Florida is going to get anyway) and the next thing I know, she's curled up on the couch with the socks on. She wore them everyday during her stay in Florida then took them back to GA. She snuck them back to Georgia and had the nerve to send me a picture of them on her feet.
Hm. . . I guess the ungrateful change their mind when the temperature drops. . .

I love my Mommy.

The waving lace socks with short row heels.

I’m so glad to have found Favorite Socks knitalong. What a great idea for the KAL!
When I saw "Favorite Socks" from INTERWEAVE at first I said "I must get it!" and I got it! There are so much wonderful patterns! I love socks. They are my favourites to knit. And just finished Waving Lace Socks by Evelyn A. Clark from "Favorite Socks".
The pattern of them is very elegant and easy to memorize. I used cashmere woll yarn in dark red (100g = 360m/ 328yds) and needles 2,5 mm.
The pattern recomends to knit flap heel, that is why I sterted with this way. But soon I changed it into short rows. In my opinion, it’s the fastest, easiest, and best looking way to do. I saw some diferent methods of short rows heels on patterns, but I have my own. When I was a very young girl I couldn't understand how to make a flap heel, so I invented my own way. And I am sure mine is the most simple short row which I ever seen. I think I have to do my short row tutorial to share with you.Pattern: the waving lace socks from "Favorite Socks" with some my modifications
Needles: 2,5 mm DPNS
Yarn: 60g Casmere wool in dark red (100g = 360m/ 328yds)

I *heart* My New Waving Lace Socks

After thinking about them and talking about them to anyone who would listen for the entire summer, then finally getting them started in August and now finishing them in September, this was one very celebrated project for me and my feet that maybe should end in great rejoicing:) Seriously though, this was a great pattern, well written, and very easy to follow. I used the exact yarn and needle size called for in the pattern and they fit great.

Et VoilĂ !

Waving lace socks...
More photos and details are on my blog and on Ravelry (I'm KnitSix).

I cast off and finished the second sock last week, after several gift-related delays. I love them, which is good, because they're for me :-)

Waving Lace done!

Hi!

I finally finished my first pair of Waving Lace socks. I loved the pattern and I loved this yarn, which is a locally dyed sock yarn called French 75.

This is a great book that I turn to again and again.

More on my blog.

orange you glad!

I finished my first pair of socks from this book, and I'm totally in love. They are a bit loose, so I'm hoping that when I block them that I'll be able to get them a little more snug. I've never tried something like that with a sock before, so we'll see.... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Already on the needles and 3/4 the way done is the retro rib sock in a hand dyed superwash that I bought from etsy. The yarn is variegated and the pattern is a little tough to see, but I'm still liking how it's turning out. The name of the yarn was chocolate cherry, but it reminds me more of Neapolitan ice cream. Since I can't eat the stuff (milk is not my friend), at least I can wear it!

Waving Lace 1/4 of the way

These are my Waving Lace Socks. I am so pleased with the way they are working out. The pattern is a dream to work. I have actually never made a pair of socks top to toe. I've only done the toe up method. This is just as easy so far. I am using KnitPicks Essential Solid in 'Grass'. My next pair of socks will be with Zen String I think. It just looks scrumptous.

off the back burner

Well, y'all are inspiring to say the least! I started the waving lace socks like umm oh say a few months ago, and it got put down not to be thought about since. Here's a picture of it, just sitting lonely on my shelf.

Well it won't be sitting any more! I'm totally re-fired up about the socks, and ladies look out they'll be done before I know it.

I can't remember what type of yarn it is, handpainted lovely orange by some talented so and so. I'm working on two size one circular needles. Guess that's it.

Oh, I must add that it's been my knitting-life-long-dream to knit all the patterns in a book, and I think that the Favorite Socks book is just the book to help me make that dream come true.

I'm thinking this will be a sox Christmas, and if folks don't like it....... well, they can stuff a hand knit sock in it!

New Here...

Hello - I just finished my 2nd pair of socks from Favorite Knits. I intend to knit many more of these beautiful socks so I figured it was time to join in.

My first pair was the Embossed Leaves knit with Koigu. Unfortunately the 2nd hank knit up quite a bit differently than the first, but I still love 'em. I will definitely make another pair of thise some day in solid color.

Next up was Waving Lace knit with Seacoast Handpainted Merino/Tencel in "Fresh Air"Knit on Picks 32" Size 0 circulars using the Magic Loop method.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this yarn (it's subtle colors and sheen) and the pattern (interesting but easy to memorize).

Now I just need to decide which pair will be next.

I have just begun my adventure in the Favorite Socks Book. Wow what a ride it's gonna be! The Waving Lace Socks caught my eye first. So I've cast on and worked about half the sock top in Knit Picks Essential Solid 'Grass'. The green sets off the pattern of the sock and I am pleased so far with the results. The pattern works really fast too. I am new to this KAL and honored to be a part of such a cool community of sock knitters. Pictures to come when I've at least completed one sock. I've ordered more needles so I can try the suggestion of knitting 2 at once. Preventing SSS is a must.

First Post!

I've finally cast-on my first Favorite Socks! I've chosen the Waving Lace socks with the scalloped edge, using Lorna's Laces Shepherds Sock in the "Gold Hill" colorway. I only made it through the first row before my 4th of July guest arrived, but I'll post pictures as soon as there is something substantial to share with you.

Waving Lace

i got one of the Waving Lace socks done after i reknit the whole thing with size 2.00mm needles. it came out too big with the 2.25mm. i am using the same yarn as in the book, Lornas Laces in Old Rose. it feels so nice i dont want to take it off. so i am sitting here on my couch with one sock on my foot and the other on my needles.....

i dyed some more sock yarn a couple days ago. here it is:

crazy about lorna's laces!!!

hey everybody!
i finally finished my Go with the Flow socks!! they turned out very long, but i love them. the purple one is the Anniversary sock which will be for my mother in law. i started a couple other socks because i couldnt stand just looking at the beautiful yarn i got in the mail after going crazy ordering what was supposed to be 2 skeins and turned out a lot more because i couldnt decide on the colors. i never used Lorna's Laces before and i have to tell you i am in love. so soft and so beautiful!!! i want to try to dye my own yarn though, just because it would be a lot cheaper...i ll let you know (and see) how that turns out.
until then: Happy Sock Knitting!!!

Waving Lace: One down...

...and one to go.

I'm using Lorna's Laces in Watercolor, which is soft, stretchy, and comfortable, if a little too "matte" for my taste. Still, I'm happy with how it turned out :-) I posted more information on my blog.

Now I have to interrupt this project to work on a very belated Christmas present. (It's not my fault...really!)

My Waving Lace Socks

I can definitely see why this pattern is so popular and on the cover of the book. These are my Waving Lace Socks - definitely my favorite socks so far:
I love Evelyn A. Clark patterns - she is a knitting designer idol! If you'd like to see more pictures or get more info, you can follow me here. Thanks! Tiennie
